E1027  ROQUEBRUNE CAP MARTIN

A research trip to Eileen Gray's iconic villa E1027 has been a great inspiration and informed many of the forms and structures that have evolved in my work.

​

The general ambience of E1027 built in 1933 embodies Baudelaire's idea of Luxe, Calme et Volunpté. Gray'sidea of creating a place of shelter informed her ideas about using aspects of the site to aid the funtion of the villa. The interior decor and furniture was original in that it was lightweight and movable in the style of le camping.
